First and foremost, I would like to thank Mr William Fong, he was professional, welcoming, friendly and attentive during check in. Check in: it was smooth. Check out: easy, just dropped my room cards in a designated box. Room: My room's layout was good, spacious, cosy and comfortable, has rain shower room with separate bathtub. Large bed. Nice view, 9th floor facing HDBs and Pinnacle@Duxton. Food: Room service, ordered the food from the hotel's website menu(Element Restaurant), tasted good, a bit pricey. For breakfast, to book a day before from the given slots to avoid overcrowding due to Covid, starts from 7am to 8am, 8am to 9am, 9am to 10am, 10am to 11am, at the 1st floor, they offered 4 sets, to pick 1, portion was good, only the coffee, tea and fruit juices were free flow. Easy access to 100AM mall from the 1st floor.

Worthy, but unpleasant ”
Hotel room is spacious, room condition is at its best, cleanliness is tiptop. Nothing to complain about the overall presentation of the hotel. Only point to raise is human communication. We understand hotel has its own check-in time policy, request may not be fulfil for early check in. By giving your customer the reason that you’re having full-house might not be the best answer. Guest checking in and out throughout the day. It is understand-able if the check-in has more than 2 rooms together. But just with even 1 room and it is not able to fulfil, it might not be convincing. Nonethless, Agoda shows check in from 2pm, reception has informed the time should be 3-4pm. Well, without young travelers, I won’t push further on that. However, while the reception is doing our pre-registration before permitted check in time (I would believe this will be more efficient and time saving for later), there is a big size man with black suit (believe to be higher ranking manager) is telling the reception lady “you shouldn’t be doing that”. I am little offended towards his words. The reception lady was being courteous and nice, and might be considering the long queue later as everyone is only allowed to check in at that same time. Same goes to the club lounge, staff should be more alert when it’s the peak meal time. By telling guests that “let me call our chef” “I’m sending my colleague to deliver more food” “coffee machine should not have problem” even without checking it. I would know it’s running out of milk! And start taking photos all around (probably that’s the protocol to get kitchen to send up more food) By station someone whom is unable to serve your guest might not be a good idea. Other than the human interaction within the hotel , others are all fantastic!

I recently stayed at Amara, and while my overall experience had some bright spots, there were areas where the service could certainly improve. Check-in and First Impressions: Upon arrival, most of the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, except for one team member who was a bit less approachable. I had left my passport at a previous hotel, and while the receptionist kindly suggested I leave my bags with the concierge while I retrieved it, the older concierge (possibly named Raymond) came across as rather abrupt and unhelpful. When I returned, he handed my bags back with minimal courtesy and seemed irritated, which dampened the start of my stay. Later, a minor incident where my bag lightly brushed him led to a rather dramatic reaction on his part, and he continued to be cold and unwelcoming for the rest of my stay, which was uncomfortable. Room and Club Benefits: The room itself was outstanding – spacious, spotless, modern, and impressive. The bathroom was particularly nice with a powerful shower and thoughtful amenities. For a 5-star experience, however, small touches like a welcome letter or clear information on club benefits would have made a difference; I ended up searching online to find out about them. Club Lounge and Dining: Mousse, who worked in the Club Lounge during the evenings, provided a warm and memorable experience. He was attentive, engaging, and went out of his way to remember my preferences, adding a personal touch that was truly appreciated. However, the lounge's food selection could use improvement, particularly considering the cost of a club room. Cocktails were not available, and the limited drink options made the experience feel somewhat underwhelming. Breakfast was a disappointment. The quality and selection were similar to that of a Holiday Inn, lacking the finesse one expects from a luxury hotel. The buffet area was chaotic and seemed unmanaged, with guests scrambling for tables and minimal guidance from staff. The Club Lounge offered a quieter environment, but unfortunately, the breakfast food there wasn’t much better. Additional Amenities and Services: My room’s free minibar and laundry were nice perks, though they fell short in execution. I had to call to restock the minibar, and the laundry service was slow – taking over 24 hours – which didn’t suit my short two-night stay. Small refinements in these areas would enhance the overall experience. Highlights: One standout of the hotel was Jigger and Pony, an exceptional cocktail bar located on the premises (though not managed by Amara). The staff, especially James, provided stellar service and world-class drinks, making it a real highlight of my stay. Check-out Experience: My late checkout was granted as part of my club room benefits, and a friendly receptionist extended it to 3 pm to accommodate my evening flight, which I appreciated. Overall Verdict: The room was definitely the star of my stay at Amara, but the service, particularly from certain staff members, could use some polish to reach a true 5-star standard. Our recent stay was exceptional. Clean rooms which were very spacious with a great layout. The location was perfect for exploring the city, going shopping and eating at the nearby hawker markets. We had a great nights sleep, the rooms were dark, quiet and the bed comfortable. My only suggestions was that the pool area needs a bit of a facelift and there were non functioning water features, the lifts were also very slow. Some more vegetarian and vegan options at the buffet also would have been welcome. Otherwise a great hotel and would stay again
