I planned a trip to Singapore to see the Lady Gaga concert on May 24th. I found a cost-effective accommodation near the OCDC Arena (I forgot the name), which has a stage, and it was Beary Best Kampong Glam. When I landed at Changi Airport around 10:30 PM Singapore time, I used Grab to get to the accommodation, but it took me about 20 minutes to find it (this area is a bit tricky to locate using signs. Look for it right in front of the IJOOZ vending machine). It's located on Arab Street. The access to public transport is slightly lacking. I only came to see the concert, so I didn’t need to rent a vehicle, and I managed everything by bus, subway, or walking. If you have enough stamina to walk, it's an attractive location. There's a 7-Eleven nearby as well, and there are great spots for halal food (though I still don’t really know what halal food is... I’m sorry..) with Turkish/Malaysian cuisine where I had lunch and also ate at around 11 PM after the concert. On the first day I arrived, I went to the Juke Club, but it’s actually quite far to walk from the accommodation. However, I wanted to walk, so I walked for about 30-40 minutes. Even though it was humid, I found it enjoyable to walk through the streets of Singapore. If you want to go to clubbing areas or places that sell a lot of alcohol, the location of the accommodation is not recommended. It’s far! I also went to Sentosa Island, which is about a 5-minute walk from the accommodation to a big shopping mall. From there, I took bus number 100 and after about 40 minutes, I got dropped off at the station going to Sentosa Island. I also paid 4 dollars to ride the express monorail into Sentosa Island and looked around... Ah! Also, I visited Marina Bay Sands (MBS) and Gardens by the Bay, and I went back and forth here by subway as well. The overall itinerary was tightly scheduled from departing on the 23rd at 4:10 PM to returning on the 25th at 11 PM~~~ Anyway, it was good. Oh! And it was cleaner than I expected hygiene-wise (based on a man in his 30s). I didn't see any bugs. The staff was very friendly, and I communicated via WhatsApp, and I think they accommodated most requests. One thing I asked for was that my flight on the 25th was too late, so I requested to check out in the morning and leave my bags, and they agreed to hold them until 6 PM, so I used that service well. I checked in quite late, so I didn’t know how to do it, but they responded well even when I chatted late at night on WhatsApp. Also, I tried the GoKi app for the first time and highly recommend it!! Um... And definitely use the IJOOZ vending machine right in front of the hostel! They sell delicious orange juice for 2 dollars, which is a steal. At the airport, it’s 3 dollars, and they don’t accept card payments, only online payment methods, which I failed to do. Anyway, get it from the vending machine in front of the hostel.

During my 2 days stay at Singapore the second day I booked to stay here. The host was very friendly and helpful. It was a totally a new experience for me to stay at this kind of hostels. They have a very good digitalized system for check in and safety. Only drawback is the bathroom was very small and as the toilet is outside the dormetry room someone had peed in the bathroom instead using the toilet outside. So it smelled very bad. There is no kitchen or self laundry service which can be taken to consideration by the property in future to facilitate the hosteliers. Overall I would give an A because of the host who made me feel comfortable during my stay and allowed me to stay in property lobby until I got my late bus to Malaysia. Thanks a lot.
The place is nice and super clean. Rooms and bathroom, toilets are clean everyday, toilet sometimes clean twice or more a day. Aircon and fans are nice and cool. Bed is sustainable , fully equipped with 2 lights, mirrow, phone holder and a small nest bag in the wall to keep your things . In addition the bed is nice, comfortable and with a proper locker with key.

“Rough place for sleeping”
Bad points: (1) Curtains do not cover the "capsule". LED lights shine right into my eyes when in sleeping position. (2) Door slams loudly every time someone walks through it. If you sleep next to the door, your entire "capsule" will vibrate from the sound of door slamming. (3) Hot temperature. Cold air does not flow into the "capsule". Good points: (1) Washrooms are clean (2) Bed feels clean Snoring bunkmates is also a big problem but, to be fair, not the fault of the hostel. I left 4 days later despite booking a bed for 2 weeks. Hostel is good if you enjoy loud noises, bright lights and hot temperature.
