Bhaktapur hotels & places to stay

This guesthouse was a perfect cultural experience for us as our first night in Nepal and in Bhaktapur. They provided a driver (extra cost) to pick us up from the airport that I highly recommend as they will lead you through the intense crowd and into their safe car. Nighttime in October is fairly cold and they provide an extra blanket. The place had low ceilings which was really cool as almost all places on Bhaktapur do. Their Annex building does have higher ceilings if you need. Breakfast was amazing. They make their own jam based on fruit in-season. Each morning your fruit selection will be a bit different which is great. Excellent coffee, tea and muffins. location is perfect it's in a temple area but it's away from the busy streets. Everything is within a 15 minute walk. The family is amazing. Any questions you have they will gladly answer and give you extra info if you need it. They will help you with anything you need. They definitely made the stay much more special for us as we got to know them. If you need a guide, I would recommend Bikram as you may see him hanging out at the guesthouse. He knows the whole city and will take you wherever you need to go. Overall amazing experience. Will return for another stay next time we are in Bhaktapur.

We loved our 2 nights here in early December. We arrived in the dark but a hotel member came out to meet our taxi at the edge of town and accompanied us in the car to the hotel which was very helpful. It's located just off Durbar Square so in a great position for seeing everything but quiet enough on the evening. Both days we got up early to enjoy the amazing views from the roof terrace and see the sun rise, the roof is one of the highest around. Our room was lovely, quite traditional and very clean and the shower had the hottest water so far in our month in Nepal no matter what time of day! Really great! The breakfast was lovely, toast followed by Nepali pancakes and rosti with occasional extras and fruit to end! Such good value. The wonderful family running the hotel were always very polite and helpful and provided a lovely touch at the end with a traditional purse for myself! Some of the best hospitality we have had in Nepal and we would definitely stay again! Fully recommend to anyway planning a few nights in Bhaktapur.

I stay in deluxe room where it's huge and comfort, have own kitchen and spacious living room. This is the best room comfort during my stay in Nepal where provide good standard service. Their provide in room breakfast and Souvinir booklet once check out. Just few minute walk to Bhaktapur durbar square on the way you can buy delicious King Curd which cheap. Even though a bit expensive than other hotel around but definitely worth every sigle penny.

I stayed at hotel yechu for a night, was very happy with operations at hotel yechu. I was very impressed with friendly staff, peaceful location. The hot water service, wifi and electricity was running smooth. The room itself was very comfortable with nice beds, complimentary toiletries. The complimentary tea service was very nice during the cold winter day. There is also a free transportation to bhaktapur durbar square. All in all, very impressed with this new hotel, good value for money.

I spent the last month at Shiva Guesthouse in Bhaktapur while doing a special project, and take pleasure to recommend it. Shiva GH is located on the eastern side of Durbar Square, so the location is unbeatable. The staff were always friendly and hospitable. I had a room with shared bath, but they have ensuite rooms too. The housekeepers did a good job. When you come to Nepal, plan a couple of days (at least) in Bhaktapur. In the early morning (6-9) and late evening (4-7) the streets are taken over by farmers and small vendors, as residents do their daily shopping. During the day they are gone. If you only see Bhaktapur by taking a bus trip from Kathmandu, you will entirely miss the magic of this city and miss on its traditions. If you are on a budget and looking for friendly, clean, and safe accommodations, Shiva GH will not disappoint.

I highly recommend Cosy Hotel to anyone who's looking for a place to stay in Bhaktapur. It is conveniently between near Taumadhi Square and Pottery Square, and Durbar Square is a few minutes walk from it too. The hotel even has it's own courtyard where neighboring families dry their pottery. There's a small Buddhist temple right on the very same courtyard where devotees pay their respects early in the morning. So it is very interesting to watch these activities right from the comforts of your own room, all you need to do is open your window. Cosy is one of the favorite hotels i've stayed in. It lives up to it's name, the room can get very cosy that's its sometimes difficult to get out of bed. It also gets a bit more chilly inside the room than outside for some strange reason. When guests can very cold at night, the staff provides hot bags which is a very thoughtful gesture. The rooms are big however, the bathroom is quite small but that's just a minor problem. Hot water works well (just have to wait for 10 minutes to let the water get warm) and the internet at this hotel is the best one i've had in the whole of Nepal. Of course, the one thing that makes Cosy stand out is it's excellent service - everyone does it with a smile, from the reception to the bell boys that also work on the rooftop restaurant. Not to forget, the rooftop restauarant provides excellent views of life in Bhaktapur as well as the distant mountains. I'd choose Cosy Hotel again when I go back to Bhaktapur.

I stayed for a couple of nights in December 2014, and it was one of the best accommodations I've stayed in Nepal. Very cozy atmosphere, great hospitality and very conveniently located in Pottery Square inside Bhaktapur city, so it is very peaceful. The place is run by a family with a woodwork shop in the first floor, and they are extremely friendly. Rooms are very comfortable, the bathrooms are clean, and they have hot water and solar electricity when the city is without electricity. The food is one of the best I've had in Nepal, especially the Dhal Bhat. I would definitely stay again if I were back in Bhaktapur.

My stay at the hotel was very relaxed. The staff members were very helpful in all ways possible. They helped arrange my travel itineraries and local transport when I needed to move from one place to another. The price of their services was not bad, very affordable. During meals, breakfast and dinner (which I had at the hotel), they tried to accommodate me by making sure I was satisfied and had everything I needed. Since I traveled solo, they even made an extra effort to chat as they checked on me. The hotel environment was very peaceful and tranquil. The view from the rooftop was also beautiful. I would definitely spend a night or two at Hotel Planet Bhaktapur if I am in Nepal in the future.

I've stayed at about six or seven places in Bhaktapur (I visit Nepal twice a year) and this is undoubtedly the best place to stay. They seem to have thought of everything: comfortable bed, hot water, electricity sockets where they should be, and a desk for you to do any business you need to do on your laptop. If you struggle with noise at night then this place is perfect; unlike other hotels in Bhaktapur there were no howling dogs or early morning traffic (the street is pedestrianised). The breakfast was absolutely perfect with a decent sized omelette, fresh fruit and yogurt, REAL toast (not that 'shown a photo of the toaster stuff') with butter and jam, and a decent cup of tea. I met three different members of staff there (reception, kitchen & night staff) and each one of them was helpful, polite and typically Nepali (friendly). The teeny-weeny fault was that WIFI was switched off at night - not good for contacting family on the other side of the world.

After the noise, dirt and turmoil of Kathmandu, the Heritage Hotel was a true oasis. It was the best hotel i stayed inmthroughoit my six week trip. The staff and owners could notmhave been nicer, going,out of their way to assist me in every way. This hotel is a must when you visit Nepal. Younhave the proximity of Kathmandu withoit the mess, you are right next to Bhaktapur, a womderful UNESCO site and you have the tranquility of being mestled in between small vegetable gardens...a real paradise.

I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a 3 month trip to Nepal. Very pleased with my choice. Excellent location and very attentive staff with good English. Great views from the rooftop restaurant. Noise from the front rooms can be an issue but I am a very heavy sleeper and found no problems. When I was awake I quite liked the bell tolls. You can ask for a room away from the main square but you also miss out on views. This is the price you pay for such a great location and I was happy. If you go to the viewing station near Nagarkot I would suggest walking back. About 4 to 5 hours on a really nice off the road trail (mostly) and with the opportunity to visit a temple about an hour from Bhaktapur. It is about 14 miles but is almost all gently downhill.

Nice spacious room. Although could be cleaned more often. Wonderful location in the middle of Bhaktapur. Helpful and cheerful staff. Goofd restaurant at the rooftop. Mind the bells of the Temple opposite the Hotel! They (local people) start to give offerings to the Gods and do their prayers very early in the morning and during the whole day whilst they ring bells loudly. This could be disturbing factor if you want to sleep properly. But I got used to it after a few days. Very genuine and in the middle of the local peole.

we were travelling with our 3 young children, and krishna house was the perfect place for us. it is far enough from kathmandu city centre to escape the crazy hustle and bustle, but near enough to reach all the main historical sights, eg. the 7 unesco world heritage sights. we had a very easy and relaxing walk from krishna house to bhaktapur durbar square, which is not as hectic as kathmandu and patan, and we enjoyed souvenir shopping in bhaktapur. our rooms and attached bathroom were very clean, clean sheets, clean towels, wonderfully thick blankets, and we were provided with fresh tooth brushes and tooth paste too. we were served with a wonderful breakfast every morning and they would give us hot drinking water whenever we needed. the owners are very knowledgeable and experienced, and they shared insights into nepal and its history and suggested how we should map our movements around the kathmandu valley. they helped us to hire a van for our sightseeing around kathmandu valley, and they are also able to help plan/organise various nature/adventure/sporting activities around nepal if we require any. if we are ever in nepal again, we will surely make a stay at krishna house.

Its a family business run by diligent son and daughter. Experienced, supportive and welcoming. Although the entrance is located at the ally which is not easy to find, the hotel owns a large piece of land with a big garden - perfect for a refreshing breakfast. All the basics are available and new in condition. Very reasonable quality at this price. Beware that you might need to pay the tourist entrance fee at the Old Town Gate, or you will need to do google-mapping for a local route to skip the fee (around USD15) - I succeeded a few times but that’s really a steep slope.

The hotel was almost empty so that could account for the lack of amenities, but nothing accounts for the horrible bathroom that had a noxious smell and a toilet seat that had jagged sharp points that could really injure you if you were not careful. The constant flies and lack of air was only made bearable by a fan. The breakfast were prepared by a diffident staff that just hung around being surly. If one had to spend one night here it would not be too awful , but any more would be a trial...The bed was rock hard , only made bearable when you put extra pillows on it to sleep with. The internet was almost never working , and the constant on and off of electricity made life difficult.

I stayed for 3 nights in this guest house. Lovely homely feel inside. Price is reasonable for what you get. My drivers had to wait 2 hours at the airport for me because of the Visa queues but didnt complain and were very friendly. I was happy to be able to choose my room and for the free daily water. The bathroom is tiny with no window and over time I imagine water/damp/mould may become an issue on the door, carpets and walls, but it was sufficient for my needs. There was no hot water 4/5 times even leaving it running wastefully for 10mins as suggested so that was a little disappointing. The tv is old and doesnt work, I didnt mind at all not having a tv, but its unnecessarily taking up space in a small room that could perhaps be allocated to something else - like a luggage/shoe shelf or small wardrobe. Location to the different squares of Bhaktapur was very convenient, everything is walkable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and provided anytime in their restaurant in the next building and staff there were also very friendly.
