Our agency arrange our stay in Shankar Hotel in Kathmandu which was very wonderful stay, highly recommended!! The Shankar hotel is located in Lazimpat which is about 15 minute walk from center of downtown. All of our hotel reservation, city excursions, flight tickets and adventure activities are booked by Breakfree Adventures, an excellent tour company owned by group of local guides. This guys are highly recommended for your adventure travel to Nepal himalaya.

I have stayed in many hotels in Kathmandu and from all of experiences, I have always found this Penguin Boutique hotel best among all. This time I was been upgraded to Pent House and it was awesome. All rooms of Penguin Boutique hotels are very good and comfortable. The shower, the a/c, the free wifi, services, the cleanliness, the warm welcome, the hospitality, foods and the location is what brings me back often to this hotel. Thank you Mr Bishal & Mr Pancha for such a nice hospitality, as i have reviewed in TripAdvisor as well, your team is awesome. spent 2 nights there after arriving in Kathmandu, then after 2 nights in Nagarkot hilltop village came back to Shambala. By far the best hotel I stayed in while in Nepal. Breakfast was 1st class as was the staff,also comfortable clean room. After returning from walking around the chaotic streets it was so nice to have a relaxing massage in the Spa followed by dinner in the hotel restaurant. The reception staff helped me to arrange a flight over the Himalayas and the magnificent Mt. Everest for a never to be forgotten experience. Will recommend Shambala to all my friends.

I stayed for three nights at the Kantipur Temple House as I awaited the arrival of a friend. I was attracted by the Nepali architecture, the quiet location and the morning yoga classes. I could not have been happier with my choice! Each morning I awoke, enjoyed an organic coffee on the patio before the 8am yoga class. The breakfast service as excellent and provided perfect nourishment for a day of exploring the courtyards and alleys of the historic district of Kathmandu This area is such a unique experience that allows visitors a experience of feeling how Nepal has been for centuries. It is both chaotic and beautiful, and after several hours of taking it all in, it is wonderful to be able to retreat to a quiet and comfortable hotel. Kantipur Temple House aesthetically matches Kathmandu which I greatly prefer over modern hotels that would feel like I was leaving the place I came to see. The food is excellent and the staff were extremely attentive. The rooms do not provide a lot of sunlight, but this is the traditional design of homes in Kathmandu and provided a quiet, cool place to relax/ nap during the heat of the day. And, quiet cannot be overrated in Kathmandu! I highly recommend this hotel.

We spent our last night in Nepal at the Shangri-La after returning from Pokhara. It was great - comfortably warm (it was cold outside), all the modern amenities you expect, comfy beds and really good food at the hotel garden cafe (we even took take-away to the airport for dinner). The staff were helpful and prompt and overall it was just a really comfortable way to end the trip - Kathmandu can be chaotic and it was the perfect oasis just as we were starting to tire of the madness. They also provide really affordable hotel transfers for guests - just USD10, great value in a large hotel car which navigates the bumpy potholes really well!

I had a wonderful stay in Avataar Kathmandu. The location is right in the centre of Thamel but yet it was quite and peaceful. After three weeks of trekking I booked another 3 star hotel in Kathmandu . The hotel was ok but there were no electricity and hot water -Nepal is in energy crisis- after three days I decided to move to Avataar Kathmandu hotel after reading all the good reviews online. Surprisingly, there were 24hrs power and hot shower available in Avataar, really made you feel like human again. The room is clean complete with almost everything you need. I was so glad that I moved to Avataar Hotel. The best value hotel in Kathmandu!

We booked 2 nights on recommendation from another traveller after 8 days trekking - it was nice to have a break from thinking, travelling etc. The pool and mojitos were great - the restaurants (both Cafe and Rox) were good but (not surprisingly) expensive compared to the rest of Nepal. Sometimes service was lacking so you need to be clear about what you prefer. We also stayed one night at Hotel de L'Annapurna for the same cost and Hyatt was 100 times better although the Indian restaurant at L'Annapurna was one of the best meals. We also stayed at Kathmandu Guest House for a fraction of the cost which has a lovely garden but no pool.

Dwarika's is simply the finest hotel in Kathmandu. The salvaged architectural pieces that have been incorporated into the various hotel buildings are gorgeous. Our room had tons of windows and looked out on the courtyard. I have only one criticism of our room, and that is that they use citronella to clean, and our room had an overpowering smell in it when we checked in. We had to open the windows for a while to try to clear out the aroma.

The Annapurna was the best hotel in Kathmandu city when I was doing fieldwork in Nepal in the early 1970s. But it was beyond my means, so I could only appreciate it from afar except for a few meals in its excellent restaurant. When I had an opportunity to return to Nepal, I booked the Annapurna at least partly from nostalgia. It was ok, the restaurant was still excellent, the room was acceptable, the price was ok, and its location remains good. But Kathmandu now has many other lodging options that are worth considering, depending on what dimensions of a hotel stay the lodger considers of high priority.

This property spanning around 22 acres in the most perfect location outside of Kathmandu pampers all of the senses from the visual to the sublime. The staff is outstanding, the rooms encompass gorgeous views, and the food is some of the best in the world. Activities abound like a hike to the local farm, yoga, meditation, painting, spa, Pottery, or just lounging in one of the multiple forest sitting areas. Service and amenities are 5 star, this was one of the best stays we've discovered around the world. this will remain one of our greatest memories of travel.

Just slightly pricier than the average hotel in Thamel, but worth every cent. We stayed here for a night after returning from our ABC trek in Pokhara. Located in a quieter area of Thamel but still very accessible. The decor, look and feel of the entire hotel sets it apart from other hotels. It's extremely warm and inviting and feels a bit like an upscale establishment. Upon arrival, they served us fresh watermelon juice and masala milk tea then promptly showed us to our room. Breakfast buffet was served at a nice little room and the food is great. When we left, the reception staff also presented us each with a simple scarf-type gift too. All the lovely small touches makes this hotel THAT much better than other hotels in Kathmandu. Will stay here whenever I'm back again.

This hotel is awesome. I can't believe that it is not mentioned in more guide books. It is the best value for a luxury hotel in Kathmandu. It is nestled in a large jungle-like park,away from the noise and chaos of the downtown. The rooms are great, the staff extremely helpful and abundant, and the facilities including spa exceptional. I found the food at both restaurants to be really tasty and with a nice variety.

It was pleasant to find the hotel in Kathmandu with unique and excellent design of restaurant and rooms - fantastic furniture in the restaurant, very comfortable lights in restaurant and rooms, many beautiful paintings everywhere (sometimes I felt myself like in museum:) I'm fascinated of vast variety of dishes in menu - it's rare thing in Nepal. Comfy gym with shower and sauna - it was important for me. Roof-top park is very nice - waterfall, swing under the tent, small pond, flowers, same wonderful furniture from roots - nice place to sit there and think or write or read - it's important for me as well in crowded Kathmandu. Ah, very important - electric power all the time! And air-condition with heater. And excellent internet! So i'm really fascinated.

This was my second time to Kathmandu and the first time at the Radisson. I was impressed with just about everything except that the Casino was not open.However they upgraded my room and I stayed in the new part, but was not in main building.At first I worried but soon found the restaurtant and outside bar to be to my liking.The premium room wasn't large, but was great.40 inch in wall tv, glass walled shower,lots of towells,hot water all the time and a fast switch to alternate power when the power went out.They met me at airport with sign, and on time.$15.00 for service.The area itself is neat, a small cluster of quiet Streets just off a busy,noisey street.It was very quiet and relaxing.You have a number of neat little shops and a small grocery store all next to hotel.Nice pool area and fair fitness centre.Bed was great size, but a bit hard,but great sheets and pillows and looked inviting after coming back after a long day.Internet in business centre was slow,but cheap.Hotel had free WiFi,but I didnt take my laptop.Food in restaurant was good and not pricey.Local taxis are right outside and its only 300 Rupees to Thamel.I would stay here again and think its a gem in Kathmandu.

First time in Kathmandu and Nepal. Overwhelmed by the entire country and people. Staff at Mulberry were very polite, helpful and simply cannot do enough for you. The hotel is one of the newest built in the city. Great location. Fab roof top bar and swimming pool, not to forget the views from the top! Very good breakfast choices, and the food was super tasty and fresh each day. Very reasonable in price. Cannot fault this place. IF we go back, will stay here for sure. Easy walking distance to Thamel main bazaar and markets.....go for it!

I have been travelling for 30 years to all corners of the world including the best room in the top 5 star hotel in Kathmandu yet the Ambassador Garden Home was the best value hotel I have stayed in. Comfortable room with en suite toilet and shower. WiFi, TV and fridge and smack bang in the centre of town. To get this with Breakfast included for £27 for the night was amazing value for money but that wasn't even everything! There was a free Fruit Bowl and a Beer, Water and Fruit Juice in the fridge all on the house. Finally the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They really did everything to help and make me feel valued.

Hotel located near the old town, can visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square by walk easily. Staff were professional and friendly, they provided great service and solved all the problems we had. They restaurant and front desk’s staff were nice and helpful. The wonderful staff was the sales and marketing manager, who arranged a wonderful tour for us. I will come back to this hotel in Kathmandu.

Hotel is new and clean with glass shower rooms and impressed us as one of the modern hotels available in Kathmandu. Hotel location is near Thamel where the main tourist street is which is easily accessible by foot or taxi, except that taxi drivers aren't sure of the location just as yet. Breakfast buffet had sufficient varieties and decent. Power supply was stable. Recommend to stay for all travelers.

Dom is a oasis in the middle of Kathmandu situated down small ally it was quite,clean and welcoming.My sister and I stayed twice ,before and after our trek and both times were greated with friendly smiles. The airport pick up was a total nightmare with mad confusion by the hotel driver.was very taken back by the harshness of the driver and having to tip his friend for doing nothing.finally I arrived at the dom himalya and was given a beautiful banana lapi and cool face washer.the reception lady then came at me with a bill I was to pay that was three times the amount agoda deal was and in us dollars.She told me that this was because of the agoda fees etc.i informed them I was not paying that amount and would sort it later.For the next 2 days the reception lady avoided me and brushed off paying until I left.long story short. they had already debtit my credit card the amount without my authority.The reception staff gave me every excuse you could think off. This left a real bad taste in my mouth an stressed about who else had my credit card number as it was just pinned to a board on a post it... Upon checking my credit card account in Australia I discovered I had been over charged over $250 aud and didn't even return my emails to deal with the matter.They have said they will refund me but am still waiting. Fantastic hotel but unprofessional reception staff...

We had 2 stays here during our trip to Nepal, one stay of 4 nights, 2 of which were on an organised tour which we extended to 4 nights. We then came back after a lovely trip to Chitwan. The hotel was clean and comfortable with lovely extensive grounds. Food good, and well stocked varied breakfasts. The rooms were well equipped and clean, and the wifi was good. All the staff, particularly the restaurant staff were friendly and very helpful. Can get a bit crowded sometimes whilst conferences and weddings and other parties are taking place. Would definitely return there if ever visiting Kathmandu again

We have stayed in Yatri in our resent trip to Nepal. We took two rooms for ourselves and parents. Rooms are big enough, clean, pleasing ambience. Staff is very polite, humble, warm and welcoming. Breakfast just too good - tasty, elaborate and wholesome. Did Spa among the facilities and it was really good. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is located adjoining market of Thamel, very good location! Key highlight - reception was very responsive when called from room for any kind of request/ service without to hold for long. We loved the place and would recommend to all our friends visiting Kathmandu! Kudos!

Hands down the best hotel during our stay in Nepal. The room we had was large and very clean. Everything was well-maintained and modern which is hard to come by in Nepal. The shower worked perfect with lots of hot water during winter. The breakfast was good enough too. The real winner here is the staff. The manager personally greeted and welcomed us when we arrived and made sure we had a good experience. He and the rest of the staff were extremely polite and professional. Smiles were all around all the time. The hotel also provided a free pick up/drop off even though we only stayed one night which is a very nice touch. We were also able to extend our stay until late at night to catch our flight home for a very reasonable price. High recommended!

hotel located in a quiet area in thamel, close to everything yet without the hussle and bussle. Room of good size, bright clean and inviting. You have TV with great channels, strong wifi signal, and a thick mattress. Let's not forget the air-conditioning! And the bathroom - the best showers in Nepal! 24h hot water even in the tap without letting the water run 10 mins.... And the bathroom has a modern design. So glad I stayed there it is well worth the money. The people who work there are welcoming and do whatever they can to make your stay fantastic, and always with a smile. A must in Nepal!

The Summit Hotel exceeded my expectations for hotels in Kathmandu. Nestled among other hotels and windy roads you would never expect the Summit Hotel to have such beautiful grounds and gardens. It is peaceful within the hotel grounds and I felt completely safe there. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful and just an overall great experience for my first time in Nepal.
