"Hotel has a warm , cosy feel and is ideally placed for the National Park. Good food and a lovely fire made a warm welcome on this cold, wet and windy spring day. Came to see the mountains but they were lost in cloud and rain. Still, the hotel was good!"

"Great hostel! Lovely stuff!! Not comparable to other hostels. You can feel that the owners have put a lot of effort into room amenities. The many wooden furniture make the hostel very homey. Great is also the spa pool - the perfect reward after the Tongariro Crossing. However, you should have a car to come to the great places like the Taranaki waterfall. "

"We travelled with our sister in law, 6 month old baby and 3 1/2 year old son so wasn’t sure what to expect. The perfect location for a long weekend of skiing. The weather wasn’t great but we loved our stay and the location was perfect for us. We could drive up the mountain, come back easily when we wanted and it didn’t matter if half our party stayed up they could easily get back down to the skotel cabin. Perfectly clean and cosy with comfy beds and a large fridge/freezer and well equipped kitchen. The shower was super hot and even a little heater in the bathroom for when you got out. The views from the deck were gorgeous of mt ngarahoe and the Tongariro National Park. We got to rug up and sip champagne watching the sunset while our kids slept in the cosy cabin. We will definitely be booking a few weekends here next season!"

"We enjoyed our stay here to hike the Tongariro Crossing. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Be mindful of the check-in hours of this location. The spa was not working when we stayed but the laundry was helpful at $4/load. We booked bus service with National Park Shuttles, but ended up taking Adventure Lodge shuttle since they are partners - just FYI. If staying to do the hike, be sure to stay at least two nights."

"The room had everything I needed. comfortable bed, kitchen and hot shower. Hosts were friendly and efficient. However, the walls are thin and there was a lot of noise coming from the kids in the next door. The place could do with a spruce up but other than that, a great place to stay"
