This three-star stay is just a short walk from Bras Basah MRT Station and a stone’s throw from hotspots like SMU, Singapore Art Museum, Albert Centre, and Bugis Junction – making it an ideal base for city explorers on a budget. For Catholic travelers staying over a weekend, bonus points: both St. Peter’s and St. Joseph’s churches are nearby, so Sunday Mass is just a few minutes' walk away. My friend and I checked in for a 4-night stay from May 13 to 17, and here’s the full scoop. Check-in was officially at 2 PM, but we arrived early at 12 noon and were pleasantly surprised that they allowed us to check in without a fuss – a rare hotel win! But the reception hit us with a surprise: a SGD100 credit card hold as a security deposit. This wasn’t mentioned on Agoda, and while not outrageous, it was unexpected. The reception lady (also the manager – multitasking at its finest) upgraded us to a suite on the 5th floor, which initially sounded fabulous… until we opened the door. The "suite" turned out to be a standard double-bed room that matched what we’d originally booked. The bathroom was decently sized but lacked a bidet, and the curtains looked like they were holding on for dear life. Dusty corners and musty air didn’t exactly scream “suite life.” We did a quick bed bug inspection – happily, it was all clear. Still, we made a grocery run for mite spray, just to play it safe and sleep easier. That said, the beds were comfortable, and we slept reasonably well. Occasional hallway noise filtered through (travel tip: sound travels, especially when fellow guests are as lively as our kababayans!), but nothing too disruptive. The real star here is the location. With so much of central Singapore just footsteps away, you won’t be spending much time indoors anyway. And strangely enough, by the end of the stay, the room kind of grew on us – like that quirky friend who forgets to clean but always shows up with snacks. Final verdict? Oxford Hotel isn’t without its flaws, but for budget-conscious travelers who value location over luxury, it's a serviceable and safe bet. Just pack some wet wipes, keep expectations in check, and let Singapore charm you the rest of the way.
Location: 2 minutes walk from Bras Basah MRT which is only 1 station away from Dhoby Ghaut (busy interchange in the city centre). Relatively peaceful and safe environment (surrounded by churches and is near a university). There is a convenient store located inside the MRT Room: Spacious and well-equipped with basic amenities hence it is worth the value Staff: Friendly and helpful especially during check-in. However, during check-out, we were expecting that it can be extended latest till 1pm like any other hotel but this was not the case so we had to rush back from breakfast to checkout by 12pm. Cleanliness: Pillow cases had traces of hair and debris from the previous occupant. The floor also had traces of snack crisps. It was evident that the housekeeper didn't do their job properly. When we were checking out, we witnessed how they only merely checked the pillow case for debris in another room and brushed it off a bit instead of actually changing it for the next occupant for hygiene purposes. The housekeeping aspect of this hotel should be improved.

On the first day, before I arrived, I messaged the hotel to ask if I could check in early. I got a quick reply, which was great, so I decided to have lunch first. When I finally got to the hotel, it seemed their system was having issues—several guests were waiting to check in. The lobby seemed small, and I couldn’t find any public toilet while I waited. I had to wait until I got my room to use the bathroom, which was a bit stressful. Important note: This hotel only accepts CREDIT CARDS for the deposit. *No cash, no debit cards.* Luckily for me, they didn’t actually charge a deposit, but they mentioned that if the room is damaged or dirty, you could be charged later. Just something to be careful about. Once I got into the room, I rushed to the toilet. That’s when I noticed a small cockroach above the door. I'm very scared of cockroaches, so that was really uncomfortable. I couldn’t kill it since it crawled inside the bathroom. A few minutes later, I saw another one, also small, on the wall near the toilet. Hmmmm, and actually the toilet got some of smellly, the hanger and shower hang was broke, can't hang.Hmmmmm, but still thankfully, the bed and main room were clean. For solo travellers, if you are finding a budgeting hotel, maybe this is one of the choice, near MRT station smore. But looking for more comfortable, maybe can looking for another hotel. That's what i recommended.

“Good Hotel, Great Location”
The Hotel was renovated but some parts are a bit dated. The best asset is its location (1). It is near 2 Train lines - Yellow and Blue Lines. (2) Walkable destinations such as Chijmes in 5 minutes, Bugis Junction (less than 10 minutes); Fort Canning & Clark Quay in 20 mins. (3) it has nearby Grocery, hawker and a number of shops for essentials The Cleaning Lady was always collecting rubbish and tidy our room. Kudos to her and the rest of the team.
