Sensational place to stay in every way. We had the full board; and whilst a little pricey, we were extremely satisfied with our decision and what we received in return. The Staff are the nicest people you will meet and led by lovely Liza (Owner) who can not do enough for you. She also has trained her cooks to deliver her Grandmother's recipes so the food is first class with all the trimmings (yum, I miss them already). If you can afford it, I recommend to look no further and stay at Pondoro for your relaxing stay. We saw the big 5 and many more animals going out on our two safari drives per day. Your driver and guide are excellent so relax when you put your full trust in them, they know what they are doing. One of the best holidays of our lives and will never forget Kruger and Pondoro lodge.

Staff is well trained, very efficient. Lovely people, everybody made us feel so welcome. The Chef's food was wonderful. The place is busy all the time, but somehow they keep the premises in tip top shape at all times. Don't know when the staff cleans, it's like fairies with magic wands. When you turn your back, its clean. Lost of wild animals to see. Had a lovely time, thank you everyone.

This is the perfect bush get away!!! It is an oasis perfectly tucked away in the bush with animals roaming within the lodge. If you are in need of a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then this will be the perfect getaway. Although we arrived two hours earlier the staff were very happy to accommodate and help us to check in. The breakfast and dinners are a welcomed treat with tasty food and entertainment by the staff. Game drives are a must! My daughter was fascinated with the Tour Guide as he entertained us with interesting wildlife facts and spoilt us with light snacks and drinks! The staff are friendly and always willing to go the extra mile! I would highly recommend the lodge and look forward to my next visit. Thank you Robert and team for a truly memorable experience!!! We really liked it because the rooms were big, comfortable and clean, the location sensational and the staff friendly and helpful. But its a grand old lady a bit past her best. The furniture is alittle shabby and the fittings good quality but past their best. The tennis court, and bowls are no longer used suggesting it performed a different function almost like a resort when it was built in the 1930s. It might not be eveybody's cup of tea, but we reckon it's a gem.

We were told a shuttle would be available from Mall of the North to the lodge. When we called we were told that because we were in the budget rooms we could not be picked up with all of our bags, so we had to walk. We were a group of 11 with 5 rooms booked. When we told them, they then said the driver wasn’t available. We had a great room booked for four people and after speaking with the owner, didn’t have trouble using the shuttle services.

We didn't know what to expect, however when we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by Tidi who was very nice. No disappointments here. The room was quite cozy yet, very neat and clean. Housekeeping staff did an excellent job throughout our stay. Breakfast was great and everyone was very polite and friendly to us. I have no complaints about this hotel. The location is excellent if you are looking for a quiet stay. The restaurant, Harvest Time, located in Meropa Casino was fantastic. I haven't had a burger in NYC for over 13 years and decided to try the Gourmet Burger and I knew I was eating wholesome beef. I noticed there is a bus that takes you to wherever you want to go, however, we had our own driver. Please thank all the staff for their hospitality! If I begin to mention names some persons will be left out. (lol) We will definitely be back next year! Great value for money - we stayed in room 2 for 3 days - upstairs family room, room was really nice with upmarket feel, view on river was fantastic - about 30 meters from river - with hippo's visible lying in the river at night. Service by the manager was really good. you really made us feel welcome. Self service communal kitchen at main lodge was clean and spacious with each room having access to its own cupboard and fridge - this besides the bar fridge in the room. Location, about 20km's from Hoedspruit. Would definitely stay there again!

We were a family group with older child in her twenties, plus a friend and only really had a weekend in South Africa. Decided a private game lodge was the best option to see animals and it wasn't too far from Jo'burg so was viable drive. The owners met us at the gate and took us on our first drive, impressed with their commitment to the conservation work at the reserve and it was lovely that they joined us for dinner - lovely and interesting people. Justinus is a fabulous guide and he put so much effort into ensuring we saw so many animals over our 3 day visit. He is so knowledgable and informative that we felt very luck to have him show us the reserve. All the staff at the lodge are first class, Ron and team ensured we were well looked after, the kitchen team are all great at customer service, we felt very looked after and pampered! We are all already talking about making a return visit in the future to Jamila. Highly Recommended

Amazing villa with a huge open bathroom and living area and outdoor jacuzzi. In my view I would have swung the bed around to face the glorious bush and trees outside instead of into the living room. Also flip flops are essential to traverse the hard pebbles on the bathroom floor which is a bit weird. The game drives were fun, invigorating and informative. Pity the Waterberg has such little birdlife but that's no one's fault. Meals were excellent and there was a great wine selection. Fantastic staff, thank you.

The surroundings and set up were delightful and obviously a huge amount of imagination had gone in to creating the ambience of the place - wonderful lot of old and interesting objects, paintings, furniture etc around and they were even kind enough to let my husband have a book from the "library". We had an evening meal that was very tasty sitting outside on a beautiful warm evening. Even though there was a wedding on and families it was amazingly quiet. Just a note regarding our bathroom though - could do with extra maintenance but probably a re fitting with a shower would probably be a better option as it looked more than a little tired around the edges - that said - we know it all costs money and not every thing can be done - it is obvious they have not been sitting on their laurels and evidence of that is the lovely spa which I partook of at 7.30 am! A great place and thank you to the kind attention of the staff.

Overall we had a lovely stay. The rooms were beautiful (and big!), the gardens lush and well maintained and the staff were very friendly. The fireplace in the room was also great during the chilly winter evenings. There were small glitches; we had booked a double/queen size bed, however upon arrival there was two 3/4 beds. Additionally, the Cordon Blue we ordered was very under-cooked and the pizza we received for our room service was dismal. The Coach-house itself is a slight drive to the nearby sights such as Magoebaskloof/Tzaneen and Haenerstburg and next time we would rather opt to stay in one of those areas. If staying here, one should rather enjoy the comforts of the hotel (spa, views, fireplace) rather than drive around a lot like we did. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the venue and the breakfast each day was great.

I never figured out why the hotel staff. I never figured out why the staff did not tell them to turn it down.

Wonderful location overlooking mountains and valley. Friendly staff, delicious food, knowledgeable game rangers. A great place to explore the Western side of the park, and we didn’t see a single other car in the one three game drive we went on, which is always nice. The lodge was built quite a few years back so a few small things were a tad outdated like the insides of the cupboards, and the rooms might be regarded as being too close together for some (we could hear our neighbors receiving all the birthday calls). This didn’t detract from a really relaxing short break, just something to be aware of

I really enjoyed my time here, the staff really takes the time to get to know you, they layout the safari experience for you and check in with you constantly to make sure that you are well taken care of. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, all of the little touches made for a great stay. The game drives were fun, you get so close to the wildlife, it really was fantastic.

This is a fantastic experience. It's more than a hotel - it's an holiday with a difference. The package includes two safari type trips around the game park (morning and afternoon), all your meals and accommodation. The accommodation is excellent. We were treated to a BBQ type meal in the evening, which was social. The staff did an African dance which was fun. All in all an excellent place to spend the weekend.

Bad check in experience. Was told agoda didn't send booking to hotel. 2 assistance at reception on friday & saturday blaming each other & system. Day 2 i got call to check out after 1st nite. I had to produce proof of confirmed 2 nights stay!! No manager in sight to explain or apologise. Saturday evening got a plate of snacks as apology from f&b manager via office assistant manager too busy to bring it himself!!!! Worst of all was the ever present sewerage stench in ROOM 121 coming from bathroom vents. Aircon didn't help. I call reception at 1.22am and was told they will only get a technician on Sunday to check it and cos hotel is fully booked we could not be moved to another room.. No 1 or technician showed up & we checked out Sunday. STAY AWAY FROM ROOM 121. 👹👹👹 we will be suing should we develop any post exposure illnesses. I will NOT use agoda again as your system doesn't confirm bookings with hotels!!! Hotel Service could do with some refresher customer training

Excellent stay at Chisomo Safari Camp. Glamping in tent rooms with hot showers and a good spread of food at meal times. The guides were particularly helpful and damn good at their jobs. Do note that this is a private reserve and is next to Kruger National Park instead of being directly in it. The benefit of which there isn't too many people (and jeeps) on the trails at any one time.

For an all-inclusive lodge, it was worth the price not having to be charged for every meal and all the snacks and drinks from the mini bar. The staff were really friendly and aimed to please the guests. I appreciate the additional game drive at another game reserve since this one admitted to not having the "Big 5". Its guide Colin was very knowledgeable and I learned so much more than the "Big 5." Our room was really spacious and tastefully decorated. No expense was spared to make us feel pampered.

On the first night game drive, the game ranger was unprepared, as he did not have a spotlight, which was essential considering we were going on a night drive. We waited around for 15 minutes to get a spot light. Eventually we met up with the head game ranger who gave us a spotlight only to find out later that it did not work and caught on fire. Thus had to return back early because we could not see anything. The following morning we had another issue with the same game ranger, as we were the only people who did not get blankets. This is unacceptable, as the morning game drives are extremely cold. This was extremely dissapointing especially because we booked at Karongwe to go on amazing game drives, however our first 2 game drives were unprofessional and definitely not up to standard. After complaining, we were upgraded to the presidential suite and got a much more knowledgeable game ranger which made our last night at Karongwe a much better experience.

We arrived late at umVangati House after our SAA Express flight was cancelled, but they still went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful dinner! It was only the next morning when we fully realized just how fantastic the property and it‘s location is. The staff went out of their way during the 2 days we were there to make us feel at home and make the most of the Blyde River Canyon area. Our car was covered in dead bugs after the late drive in, but we found the windscreen washed the first morning and on our departure day the whole car was magically clean. You can see wildlife at a watering hole from the house‘s deck and the small infinity pool at the hotel is perfect. One of the best rooms we‘ve been in and the homemade cookies were delicious! Just go and stay there as part of any SA trip.
