Mpumalanga Province hotels & places to stay

We had a wonderful time, the staff and the safari guides were wonderful, Brilliant (our guide's real name, and he was :-)) and Anton the site manager were so professional, kind and helpful.. they both worked so hard to accommodate the guests in whatever they needed. The food was superb and the overall atmosphere of the place was terrific. AND seeing the animals at the site's watering hole was a great added bonus. We saw the big five in the first two days, and finally saw the cheetah on our last day, yeahhh The only nuisance were the pesky monkeys :-) but they added to the overall experience of a safari.. I loved Honeyguide and would totally recommend it. (a hint: tent no. 4 had the best view of the watering hole)

Our stay was amazing. We loved the lodge. Staff was very friendly. Right after we had book our stay, we received a private email with instruction on how to get to the hotel. (GPS works wonders in SA) We were going to arrive late, but they sill gave us a call to insure we would like dinner. Once we got there on the amazing dirt roads, the hotel was all and more then expected - modern with typical African huts. We received and upgrade to a cabin which was also a nice touch. Dinners is served outside with a fire, you can here the animals in the distance.

In general very good except for the last day - we were booked (and paid in advance the full amount) from 23.03.2015 up to 31.03.2015 - unfortunately the heavy rain in the mountains near the village of Gaba (where I was working) washed the road to the site away and we had to return to our head office on 30.03.2015. Thus on 29.03.2015, I went to reception to try and cancel the last day - the lady at reception was very un-helpful and just said that I had to do it online (asI booked online) I tried but was unsuccessful - I then approached her again for help but shed did not want to help at all.

Our first impression as we entered the hotel was very positive. However, walking down to the rooms we noticed that the wooden window frames of the rooms were overdue for maintenance. Upon entering the room, which was marketed as a premium room, we were greeted by a king size bed with the most awful duvet cover with blue, yellow and turquoise circles, which was too small for the bed and gave the impression that the establishment had run out of proper white linen, as advertised on their website. The bathrooms are old and in need of refurbishment. We then ordered 2 cappuccinos, only to receive 2 drinks that tasted like dish washing water. After this, I approached management to request a full refund on the basis that we leave the establishment at that point and book in somewhere else. This was agreed to by management, who undertook that the refund would be made within a day or two. It is now 10 days later and we have received excuses, but still no refund! Total disappointing experience!

This place is nothing short of amazing. We stayed for 7 nights and it was without a doubt, out of this world! Our hosts, Bruce, Ilsa, Lorrie & David were the best. As much as we loved going into the park everyday, we looked forward to getting back and enjoying the braai with the other guests, it is a great way to swap stories of what you saw in the day. For anyone passionate about wildlife and making the most of your time in the Park, Crocodile Bridge Safari Lodge is going to be ideal for you. And stay in the tents if you can, listening to hippos from your bed is the best sound!!!

The staff was very much friendly and helpful. The receptionist,Gibson,was extremely excellent in terms of the processing our check in.The restaurant was well organized and their breakfast was delicious even though sometimes other items would take a while to be replenished because it was prepared in very small quantities,when the people were many in number. The pool requires regular cleaning for the guests to can use it. The weather in that part of the world is extremely hot and there is a need for guests to swim now and then,but couldn't do that due to the fact that the pool was not cleaned for the duration of our stay,which was three days.

The hotel is a true unique gem. All is great, just sad that the morning coffee is it part of the breakfast... - that feels quite strange looking at the price of the hotel . Dinner served in the terrace is good - as you are in s way again a captured customer since nothing much is in walking distance. The tree on the terrace is a must see even if u don't stay overnight . We enjoyed our stay a lot

My family and I had a great stay at Perry's Bridge Hotel. We arrived late but were helped quickly by attentive staff who delighted in entertaining our 8 month old baby. They offered us a travel baby cot and baby bath bassinet (very nice touch!). We brought our own cot and the check-in attendant who helped us with our luggage quickly unfolded our cot like an expert. Rooms were large and beds were comfy. Nice outdoor showers and stylish bathrooms. We were able to enjoy the nice buffet breakfast one morning. The next morning, we left at 5:30 to get to Kruger Park at opening (6 am) and the hotel arranged for packed breakfasts for us to take with us (these were delivered the night before.) The hotel is located behind the Trading Post (nice selection of shops and three decent restaurants to choose from). Overall great place to stay to access the Kruger Nat'l Park/Panoroma Blyde Canyon area.

This lodge is one of the best I have experienced. A beautiful setting with amazing, friendly and caring staff, who go out of their way to ensure your every need is catered for. The food is excellent and plentiful thanks to chef Julia. The owners, JJ and florence are so welcoming, you feel like part of the family. Robert, our guide is so knowledgable, with a great sense of humour. We will definitely return to this fabulous establishment. We stayed in the self Service lodge and enjoyed it so much! We had our own pool and the possibility to cook and grill is lovely. It is a sleeping place in the middle of nature, adventure and the beautiful stars. It was relaxing and during the game drives exciting. We had the Best guide ever! He was passioned, nicely explaining and so much enjoying himself, that every Tour gets unforgetable.

the lodge is located at a pleasent river, with very friendly and helpful staff. I booked a chalet and a room - and got an upgrade with 2 chalets nebst each other- it was fantastic! also we got the great Shangan- show with dinner- brei in the evening. It is located in Hazyview - and it is near to all touristic activities! to elephant whispers it is walking distance. we had a short but great time there!

We stayed for 3 nights in a bush lodge at Grand Kruger and had a good experience. I think the place is expensive (relatively cheaper than other places in Kruger), but the staff is very courteous and always ready to help with everything. This is a great place to stay if you want to enter Kruger National Park through the Crocodile Gate. Food was decent and spa was excellent. Overall we had a good time there. We booked the evening safari, 8 hour safari as well as Panoramic tour (Blyde River Canyon) through the hotel. One may be able to get these cheaper by using other agencies, but I didn't have much time before visiting to explore other options. Hotel option was certainly very convenient.

when we sat down for breakfast wewere asked if we wanted the continental breakfast or the cooked one. we selected the cooked breakfast and lateer discovered that only the continental breakfast was included in the hotel rate. the hoterl advertised free wifi however i was told that it was not working and the only computer availabe for public usage was at reception and the cost was about three times the rate at the internet cafe in the nearby shopping centre.

So the rooms are lovely and the food is good. The clawfoot tubs are great, and the water HOT! The site is quite romantic on the pond all lit up. My daughter thought it would be perfect for a wedding group. It's very simple yet lovely. So it is our first time to the area. The game drive that was booked was very reasonable, but it was to a private game reserve, adjacent to Kruger, and unfortunately, we didn't see much. Would have been better to just go to Kruger, on way in or out, which we did later that day. The animals were everywhere.!

I have just returned from a 4 night stay at Elephant Walk. What a hidden gem. A hundred times better than any of the main camps in the Kruger and so lovely and private and quiet. Staying in a log cabin over looking the Crocodile River was just perfect. And aircon in the cabin was an added bonus as when we arrived it was 43 degrees!!! It also helps keep the mozzies away. Well equipped kitchen and lovely little braai area in front of the cabin. Clean towels everyday and room cleaned so well it looked like we weren't even staying there! Towels are a little old and thin, so I think new towels need to be reinvested in? Lighting in the cabin is dim which is great! But if you like things bright, bring a few lanterns or something :) Wonderful pool area, surrounded by giant Mango tree's which are in season now so I couldn't resist to pick one off and eat it while I swam! We were greeted by a herd of Elephant right outside the cabin and the fence and were able to watch buffalo, impala and warthog, and elephant daily from our patio. The bird life was A + too. If you are looking for something rustic, reasonable and non-commercial this is your place :) We will be back!

For anyone who wants to really experience life in the wilderness with a small touch of luxury , this is it . The staff made us feel at home and it 's like we have known them for ever. They were extremely attentive to our needs and ensured we stay safe at all times. The rangers were very knowledgeable and thanks to them we were able to see the Big Fives. The best experience was opting to sleep in their tree house on outlast night . Feeling completely alone in the wilderness away from it all , gazing the stars, hearing just the sounds of animals and birds and watch the sunrise was like a a dream. Do please try it .
