New South Wales hotels & places to stay

Amora is a 5 star hotel with a 2 star gym - the gym equipment is old, missing pins and the treadmills need servicing. The one multifunction gym needs upgrading - with gym goers having to wait to share pins and weight stacks. Disappointing. the pool and steam room are great. The room is not well designed with the TV set to the left of the bed - so you get a sore neck watching movies or news. The surprise was the extra charge for using the TV games for my kids - the controller didn't work and we only knew there was a charge when checking out!!

The hotel was nice but the room was a bit small for the category and for what we paid for. We booked the king club room and we didnt know that it wasn't facing the harbour. We stayed here during new years eve in the expectation to see the fireworks from the room on Darling Harbour. The hotel is very accessible as it is near the prime shopping area and some major attraction sights. It is also close by the airport. We enjoyed the free club lounge access at the top floor which served all day snacks and beverage of all sorts. The staff was also very nice and we were even given an early check in room for our stay. I guess the only downside here is that they don't have any swimming pool which is expected of a 5 star hotel, but apart from that, everything is good. I would even considering booking a room here again on my future travel.

stayed here on business and found the location was very central. useful for getting around the cbd. it's next to town hall station which is a stop or two away from central station and apart from being on the main drag george st, it is opposite the qvb and a short walk to the best shopping complex in town, the new westfield sydney. the hotel interior features dark wood and silver/chrome highlights throughout. has a great gym, but a pretty outdated pool which is down in the basement and does not enjoy any great views. the rooms are pretty spartan, but have all the essentials. i was a bit disappointed with the bar fridge that you cant use for storing any beverages (and have to order up another one). would not recommend for a romantic getaway as the room is a bit small and very clean-cut, but once again great for business or solo traveller. entertainment in the hotel is above average with the modern zeta bar on level 4 and the more lively marble bar in the basement. nearby is the playhouse which for a free membership has excellent specials and free drinks nights i.e. thursdays. all in all, would definitely go to the hilton again, it's a modern contemporary hotel in one of the best locations in town.

We had a great time. You can easily walk to Town Hall and St James's stations from the hotel and it is opposite the Queen Victoria Building and basically part of the huge Westfield Mall with a food court underneath. Darling Harbor is a short walk away with all the attractions and restaurants there. The staff are all helpful and friendly. It's a great location to see all the interesting cultural and family attractions. We did a bike tour with Bonza Bike tours and a behind the scenes tour at Wildlife Australia and thoroughly recommend those. We also could walk to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Barracks Museum and the Australia Museum and Hyde Park. Take a ferry to Manley for the day - it's lovely!

Frasers Suites is the best interpretation of a new style of lodging. I am traveling extensively around the world for business and pleasure, cannot stand any longer the boring staying at impersonal chain hotels and it is not always possible to enjoy small boutique hotels with adequate service. Frasers is a perfect alternative, modern and cool atmosphere and, above all, a "home" feeling. Great Service.

Our stay was for 5 nights and was a super-star experience. The hotel is beautiful, still feeling new and very stylish. The staff are incredibly helpful and very friendly. Having the cleaning staff happy enough to greet you with a smile when you happen to see them is rare where I've been in the past! The rooms are kept immaculate and are full of the mod-cons, blinds operated from your TV, automatic lights/tv/blinds operation set as a "wake up call", and an amazing shower. Internet access is, from a UK perspective, extremely expensive...and confusing. Rates we saw were about $10 for a 24 hour period, or $13 for an hour. Getting anything reasonable in terms of data allowance required you to really break the bank. You stay right next to "The Star" so everything you'll need is right there: Cafe's, a casino, a (pricey) train in to the center of the city, and lots of shopping and restaurants only a short walk away. I would, in particular, recommend going to the patisserie that is opposite the entrance to the Darling (towards the bay) rather than trying breakfast from the cafe's in the Star though!

This is a fabulous new build hotel and generally a great property located within minutes of the light rail, convention centre and Darling Harbour. Whilst I found the design to be quite stunning I was surprised that it felt more suited for Noosa, Port Douglas, Hayman. Coral pieces on the wall above the bed, leather strapping that also had the feel and texture of what would be found at the beach, corridor carpet that looks like the beach sand, sun bleached beach timbers, tropical fish in the lobby and string netting lights in the lobby. Don't get me wrong this is a lovely property I just felt that the design team missed the mark with location. Unfortunately I was also the person chosen to be put into the disabled suite featuring the blue toilet seat and shower bench, a bathroom cabinet located on the other side of the bathroom . I guess someone has to have it. No chrome casting in the room and no in room tablet for new hotel is was a a shame. Paying for in housemovies is outdated.

We booked the 2 bedroom deluxe for a family of 5. The apartment was very clean with almost everything needed - fully equipped kitchen with like new and clean appliances, washing machine and dryer. 1 room has balcony. We like that the living and dining rooms were not carpeted. It’s about 5 min walk from the Museum station, not too far from China Town, 15 min walk to QVB and city centre, not as convenient as those hotels nearer to the centre but ok with us as we usually take Uber or walking in winter is totally fine. Most places we go to at not very near to train stations anyway. There is a all you can eat Korean bbq about 6 min walk from the apartment (Se Jong Korean). Overall, I really love the cleanliness and thoughtfulness to include many daily necessities we need - there is even an umbrella in the closet and a rice cooker.

Highly recommended this hotel. I’ve stayed two nights in this hotel during Christmas and Boxing Day. Walking distance to the CBD and shopping malls and publictransport. This made my shopping on boxing days and trips to other areas really convenient. I stayed in the twin room. The room is spacious and clean. Decoration is classic style. The staff are extremely fridendly and helpful. They drew on the maps to illustrate me the direction and the bus number. And tried their best to explain everythings in details. They are flexible with the checkout time and even helped me to print my travel documents. I want to give them a 6 star on staff if I can. The only downside is that the building is not tall enough campare with the other hotels around. It has a nice bar and swimming pool at roof top, but the view is not that great as it is blocked by the surronding buildings. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay for my Xmas holiday there. They deliver a top service. Yin

I was travelling alone to Sydney and decided to give this hotel a try, I have compared The Star to several hotels- narrowing 5 of the best 5-star hotels (review based) and although I find a better looking deals on the internet, I always come back to looking at booking at The Star because the pictures of rooms on their website are just stunning. I took my chance and hoped it is as good as the pictures shown. I arrived at the hotel then into my room, I was literally STAR struck. The whole space was stunning, the shower and bedroom is flawless! The staff service is impeccable. The hotel amenities are also great. The Star has almost everything you need, from top of the line shopping brands to award-winning restaurants. It's an oasis offering the very best of big city living. I highly recommend staying at The Star. Don't be discouraged with the reviews talking about the price because in the end you get what you pay for. And staying at The Star, every penny you pay for will be worth it.

We arrived on good Friday so the city was fairly quiet. We had taken a cab to Sheraton on the Park as there was 2 of us and it was only $20 dollars extra than 2 tickets on the train from the airport. The receptionist handled our booking in no time flat and we were given a room on the 11th floor. Unfortunately, we only had a partial view of Castlereagh Street and the building across the way but the room was lovely. It has been kept well but pretty soon they are going the have to put in shower mixers and new tubs and basins. There is little lustre left on the enamel of both. The beds, however, were brilliant. The mattresses were very comfortable and the pillows, luxurious. We slept the sleep of the dead all 3 nights. I was surprised there was no espresso machine. Almost all hotels have them now but the still have the freeze dried instant coffee of the 2010 and before. Although we didn't use the very mini bar it had been well stocked and there was every spirit you could want available. A big plus was the walk-in dressing room which was generous in size and was, in fact, a room of its own. There is an iron and ironing board inside also plus extra duvet and lots of very well appointed clothes hangers. There was also a safe. I have used these same safe as all through SE Asia but this one didn't seem to want to operate. The buttons on the safe had been so well used that the plastic coverings had worn through and there were no numbers on some. I expected better, We ate at the Feast Restaurant a couple of time for breakfast and twice for dinner. The prices are as one would expect but so is the service. Well done you. I became a member of the guest club while I was there as it gave is wifi in the room. I all we were very happy with the hotel, our room and its position in Sydney Central. Thank you Sheraton on the Park.

Loved the creative and modern contemporary interior design and the painting-like exterior views of the famous Finger Wharf! My booking did not include brekkie but was given courtesy top up without any extra charges! And free minibar, really, this place is definitely setting the standard bar pretty high for other hotels in Sydney! Can’t love it enough! Best staying experience indeed for my first trip to Sydney!

My second time here and the sixth hotel I’d stayed in over the past two weeks and by far the best- location is excellent just behind the Coca Cola sign in Sydney which any taxi or uber can find, easy Check-in, rooms are modern, clean and spacious with comfortable bedding/ selection of pillows. Mainly though it’s the many small touches that make this place stand out- a Bose sound system that actually works with new phones, well equipped mini bar and snacks (and they allow you to have a couple per day as part of the room cost which is nice though the alcoholic drinks obviously aren’t included in that), Usb Ports next to the bed, Nice toiletries and towels, a Nespresso machine with pods and a proper little container of milk unlike most hotels that provide a couple of little sachets if your lucky. Staff were friendly and efficient and overall it made a great last stay before coming home.

I found communication at time of booking a bit difficult resulting in a beds configuration that was not what I had wanted, but they very promptly reversed an upcharge they had made. The only major negative was a rather officious officer who made our entry into the hotel very traumatic on new years morning. He initially refused permission saying nobody was allowed back after 12pm. This was new years morning, and one wondered which city he thought he was in. The whole city spent hours walking after the midnight fireworks as everyone was aware. If such a midnight curfew rule exists they will lose customers. Being in a sort of backwater location it is awkward to get taxis or access train services. Other than this we had an extremely comfortable stay.

Facial peel - technician seemed unsure and careless though sincere and pleasant. Having had many facials in spas worldwide, I felt like she was New or in training? product applied sloppily:- first acid-product into my nostrils; then tried to cover eye-lids, mouth AND nostrils completely with 2nd mask.Info re products and procedures was not as professional or informative as expected. I spoke with desk clerk after as Mgr was away.

We feel extremely lucky to have stayed at this resort. The customer service was fantastic. A big thanks to Nick the concierge. He was very knowledgeable about activities to do around Sydney and gave us a printout of instructions that made navigating through Sydney’s public transit system a breeze while also ensuring we never went through the same place twice. Furthermore, knowing the many tourists would not fully understand the craziness of New Years in Sydney, Nick pre booked several tickets for the opera house. This set us up with the opportunity to buy some tickets to the opera house to see an opera show and have prime time seats for the New Years fireworks. When we come back to Sydney, we will be staying here!

Langham was very beautiful.. GORGEOUS!! I love the color of the interiors!! My son loved the hotel soooo much he said he wanted our house to look like our room! :) Location was not as convenient as we thought it would be (walk wise to the Harbour) with a kid and seniors in tow. However, getting UBER and cabs are pretty easy though when you plan not to walk. It's center to everything. Near to malls and restos. The only downside though was the Bellboy who thrashed one of our new luggages. Good thing, our Uluru Painting and Stonewares were not in that luggage. He got the luggage which was light in the first place from the rented car and probably "threw" it on the cart which he overdid, hence it flew to the other side of the cart which almost hit another guest who was waiting just outside the lobby door. He asked if the guest was alright, but did not ask us if there was something valuable and fragile in that luggage. Which we found very rude. He was shoving it in with the other luggages as we had 6 big ones. Dented our first impression of the hotel, and we haven't even went inside for check in. My whole family was all looking at each other in disbelief. It was only my husband who reacted as we were all stunned!! My husband just nicely said -- "Oh, I will do it." And just helped the bellboy to protect our other belongings. Our new luggage and the other ones have scar wars now from that. We just came from a nice drive from Wolongong which was all so beautiful, nice and perfect and was very excited to see Sydney and this will be our first greeting in Sydney. :( Sad. Anyways, all the hotel staff including receptionists, room-in servers, even the kind voice on the other line when we request for dining and wake up call were all very courteous and friendly, the Asian bellboy who brought our luggages in our rooms (not the guy who thrashed our luggage) even apologised for their slow service (which we didn't mind at all) were all very awesome!! sydney harbour marriott hotel review: when i reached at the hotel for check-in, they said that they did not have a reservation for me. i thought not again (i cannot believe that this is happening again). so i said to them that i made a booking via agoda, and they quickly sorted it out. what happened is that the hotel marriott made a spelling error in my surname and that was the reason why they could not find me on their system. hotel reception staff was very friendly. the room was great and i really liked it. the only disadvantage of the room was that they did not have a desk table for me to work. they had a round glass table which was very uncomfortable for me, as i could not work properly via my laptop. room space was really good and everything else about the hotel was 5 star. agoda is really helpful in making customers happy and i am sure i will book any hotels in the future through them. trust me patrons, it is very hard to make me happy.

Such a relaxing stay here, always clean & well maintained. I generally hate the idea of a 'Buffet' anything but the buffet breakfast here is second to none, with an abundance of variety to suit all tastes from hot breakfasts (think gourmet chorizo sausages, perfectly poached eggs & tasty bacon!) as well as healthy fresh fruits & yoghurts, 10 or so different types of bread for toasting to your liking, an array of sweet pastries + much more. Basically right next door to pristine patrolled beaches. Handy shops/restaurants/liquor store adjacent to resort. For fine dining in the evening try the resort restaurant "Seasons" you will not be disappointed, pricing is fair and well worth your $ (the chocolate cake with poached rhubarb & passion fruit sorbet? Hands down best dessert I've ever eaten!) Most In house movies are free and they have a good selection including new releases. Wifi is also included. A short drive from tweed heads and for a spot of shopping check out Marine parade for some great boutiques and cafes. My only complaint? The outdoor heated spa next to the lagoon could do with a little update and was really not hot enough, but still enjoyable.

This much anticipated weekend away was a thoroughly enjoyable experience from the moment we arrived at this little slice of heaven on the northern coast of New South Wales. Everything was perfect during our stay. We found the room proportions to be very generous, the staff friendly and efficient at all times, and the spa total bliss. We can't wait for our next visit!

We wanted a hotel for New Years Eve that we could walk to if cabs were impossible to find. This is located on Hyde Park, very central and convenient, and the (more expensive) rooms over looking the Park have lovely views. Rooms are generous and very well appointed, and the service is excellent. Food is high quality, not cheap, but reasonable value. The location has good access to public transport - especially busses. We didn't bother to access WiFi but it appeared unreasonably expensive.

Amazing! - Arrived earlier than check in time but staff managed to find available room for me. Great! - Received complimentary movie on demand which was nice even tho I didn't use it much - They provided novelties items on the counter, such as trivia quiz and even bowtie haha. They're quite cheap if you want to give it a go and have fun with it. - bathroom was huge with 2 showers. Love it! - Design of the room is super sexy. Perfect for couple. - Bed is super comfortable if you prefer soft mattress - Strategically located, close to St James Station if you took the airport train, 2 seconds away from Pitt St Mall, 1 block away from QVB and around 10 minutes walk to Darling Harbor - The only let down is internet connection. Not super fast as stated by hotel. 3G connection is way faster

The location of the hostel is fantastic - it is near Central Station, which is the centre of Sydney's rail network. Met people from all around the world and even made a new friend here. Interestingly, there were several older people staying there too. The facilities were pretty good. Comfortable enough bed. There was an indoor swimming pool near the top. The first floor has a nice, big kitchen and space for eating. There was a projector too for watching films and free activities (games, walks, etc.) and different options every day. This was all really great. The shower could have been a bit cleaner though and there was no PowerPoint near the bed, which would have been convenient. What left a bad memory though was that my friend was was twice kicked out of her room because of a booking error on the hostel's part. They rectified the error both times but a bit too much drama involved. Assigning beds would fix this.

This was a real gem. The moment I walked in, the staff let me know that I was important and that they wanted my stay in Sydney to be enjoyable. The concierge took the time to quickly show me a map of local interests. Bathroom - clean and spacious, bedroom - clean and spacious, power points - many. It really annoys me when I have to hunt for a power point for the laptop/phone charger/ tablet... Tea/coffee available. Somewhere to put two suitcases. How many times do hotel rooms have a place for one suitcase but two people have two suitcases? I was staying in one of the less expensive rooms but would not know it. I had an American guest with me and she and I had a grand time in this hotel. We dined at the hotel and were very happy. Both of us have travelled extensively in Asia but the Sydney Intercontinental was a match for any of the best hotels in Tokyo, Bangkok or Singapore, etc. Well done management, well done staff. I am looking forward to the next time I stay there.

For sure I will come back again to this hotel every time I have a business trip in Sydney. I'm very lucky to have a chance to stay at this hotel for the very first time, spending 3 nights and loving it with the harbor bridge view from my bedroom and from the living room area. This hotel is the best hotel I ever stayed so far in Sydney (I travel 3x a month for business trip in this city and been staying in different 5star hotels depending the availability )but I am falling in love with this hotel, not only the location, also the stuff are friendly, the food at their restaurant are very good. I tried to re-book this hotel again for my next trip but unfortunately no luck for me this time as none of the room is available :( I highly recommended Advance booking is a Must. I found only Agoda have the best price compare other site.

We have stayed at nearly all the airport hotels in Sydney and this has to be the best. I had only an overnight stay with my young daughter and instantly wished I had booked more nights! The staff are very friendly, the food is amazing! and the beds super super comfy. The whole hotel is super modern with amazing attention to detail and decor. Although the Pullman feels like a hotel for only those that are hip and young (cue most of their advertising campaigns) the hotel welcomes and caters for all travelers - including someone like me with a 12 month old baby who appreciates the modern luxury of a funky hotel. This is a go to now anytime we have to stay near the airport in sydney. Highly recommend!

This hostel (if you can even call it that, it's more like a hotel that happens to have dorm rooms), is a real value. Probably the best value for money in Sydney. My friends and I stayed in a 4-bedroom dorm with ensuite bathroom. We couldn't have asked for more. The room was clean, though they only clean it when a new person arrives, the beds were extremely comfortable and there were more than enough outlets for charging all our electronics. We found that there are multiple ways to get to the hostel from Circular Quay station. We found about three different ways through trial and error. The shortest route took about 5 minutes and cut through the Rocks market and up a path of stone steps. The view at the top of the hostel was great. Definitely stay here if you are a budget traveler travelling to Sydney!

The Sebel Peir one is in an amazing location, located over the water right next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, a very short walk from the Rocks (Sydney's best Nightlife) and only 2 mins to views over Sydney harbour and the Opera House. As a keen photographer, this was absolutely perfect allowing me to be up and in position to take some great images at dawn, with out having to travel at all. The location is about a 10 min walk from the circular pier, where you can catch ferries to other parts of Sydney and in a further 5 mins walk you are at the Opera House and Botanical Gardens. The hotel is great, you can see the old steel rigging that supports the pier and the building everywhere, and the bar has a see through floor so you are looking directly into Sydney Harbour. A great base for exploring Sydney
