It was a pleasant stay with Rest Bugis Hotel. Me and my husband appreciates how close it is to convenient stores when we are hungry at night and also the refillable water dispenser provided. Checking in and out was smooth and fast and the room we stayed a relatively clean as well. Would definitely come back again:)
Considering how expensive stays are in SG, this was quite surprising. Decently sized room, clean, with all facilities and a helpful staff - this is a good place to stay. Walk out of the lane to a 7/11 and Haji Lane with good eateries and shopping. Will recommend and definitely stay here again.
Good option for home base in Singapore, especially if you are Moslem. Walking distance to Masjid Sultan, Kampung Glam and multiple Halal eateries. Middle eastern, Indonesia, Southern Thai, Malay and Peranakan, you name it. The famous Hj Maemunah resto is also very near. For moving around in Singapore is also very convenient. Grab rate from or to Bugis Junction is ~8 SGD or you can walk which only takes around 5 minutes (need to cross 2 intersections). Alternatively you also can walk to Lavender station or Jalan Besar station which is also around a 5 minute walk. There is also a bus stop nearby the Hotel. Don't let the facade fool you. It may not look much from outside, but the room is very comfortable. It is renovated with a clean and modern look. Love the projector and layout of the family room which still have some spaces. Big windows for natural light, black curtains are also very nice. The bathroom is also modern and clean. Love the modern shower with push button operation which is very easy to use. The display showing the water temperature is also nice. The only downside is no bidet on the closet. Overall, best value and will return if I need a place to stay around Bugis next time.
I'm a local who went for staycay to celebrate my child's birthday. Not only the hotel did not reply to my request from Agoda app and via email, when I called them finally on the day of check-in, I was told that there is no eary check in and out and all were chargeable at $22/hr. When I arrived at the hotel, I admit it was my fault I did not bring my ID (I furnished digitally ltr on), however I thought it was way too much when I was told to present my child's ID too! My children are aged 8 and 6 only!! Even 5 star hotels had never request this from us before. When queried, the staff said that it was required by law and that if I did not provide it I would not be let in and they can call the police. The staff also absurdly said that in case anything happened to my child like kidnapping, they would have my child's data. The horrors! I'm a local and being "bullied" in this manner is totally unacceptable. And suggesting kidnapping in Singapore?! Is just totally ridiculous! To add on, there was another elderly man, (whom i later know he is the "bell boy"), standing right at the counter and agreeing that everyone's particulars have to be given. After the saga of searching through my kids birthday certificate digitally and emailing the hotel for registration, I thought that was it, but no.. I was then being told that the hotel was not charging me for deposit but, if upon check out and that the inn keeper finds stains/bloodstains etc that could not be removed, I would be liable and if I did not pay up, a police report would be made against me! I have yet to even step to the hotel room and the police word was being used by the staff twice for no reason at all. I was not rude to the staff at all throughout this ordeal and my husband was not around with me during check in. I was also briefed of the hotel swimming pool opening and closing time etc. Imagine going through the stress from just checking in, I was greeted with a blanket with obvious stain marks. I immediately took pictures of the so called stains and emailed the hotel's email address. I then brought my kids to swim. At the lift lobby, the same elderly man informed me that I have to get out of the pool 10mins before closing time. I understand that this may be just as a reminder, however the way that it was conveyed was not professional at all. I felt that I could have used my own discretion on when I would want to leave the pool before it closes and that this information was unnecessary. At the pool, I noticed their yellow towels (which I brought from the room) were also stained with random reddish dots of unremovable stains (yes the towels looked washed). There are many local eateries in walking distance. After we had our dinner, my husband approached the counter to feedback on the ordeal I went through earlier. Another staff a much taller man in black informed that he was terribly sorry and that they indeed do not have practice of collection of child's ID for locals, he also came to our room and changed the bed cover for the blanket which was stained. I then showed the towels which was also stained and he mentioned that for a 4 stars hotel, this was actually acceptable standard. He also in turn went to find clean towels for us to use. I do not have any gripes over minute stains but it was the way the information was conveyed to me when I was checking in that made me this particular. Do also note that the hotel is small and to cut cost, possibly a little understaffed. There was a queue during checkout and only 1 receptionist and this was not efficient. It was such a pity that my kids actually like the room with bunk bed with slide and the small rooftop pool. The room was modern looking, furnished with projector TV and smart TV box. Mattresses were slightly on the harder side. The hotel would have been very good if not for the staff who checked me in. Hotel policies are rigid and there is no small treat or anything for my child despite informing that I'm here to celebrate my

Seriously, it's right in the heart of Bugis, which meant we could just walk to Bugis Street for some serious shopping (and bargaining!), then wander over to the majestic Sultan Mosque and Arab Street for a dose of history and some amazing food. Plus, the Bugis MRT station is practically on its doorstep, so getting around Singapore was an absolute breeze. No long treks or confusing directions, just hop on and go! Now, the rooms. I was pleasantly surprised! For Singapore, where space is often a luxury, our room felt really comfortable and super clean. The bathroom was modern and nice, and yes, it had a rain shower – total bliss after a hot day of sightseeing. My favorite quirky touch was the projector TV in the room; it felt really modern and cool. It's those little things that make you smile, right? And oh my goodness, the rooftop pool and jacuzzi! It's not massive, but it's such a peaceful escape. Imagine chilling up there after a long day, watching the city lights twinkle while you soak. Pure relaxation! It was such a welcome break from the hustle and bustle below. But what really made the difference was the people. Every single staff member we encountered was just so genuinely friendly and helpful. They were always ready with a smile or a tip, making us feel genuinely welcome and at home. It’s those little interactions that truly elevate a stay. All in all, if you’re heading to Singapore and want a hotel that’s convenient, comfy, clean, and won’t break the bank, the Rest Bugis Hotel is a fantastic choice. It’s not about grand luxury, but about a really well-run, friendly place that just gets it. I'd definitely stay there again in a heartbeat!
